WOW!! I’ve never had such a good experience at an automotive shop! Only two tiny side-lights were holding the car back from passing inspection and the mechanic said each light was $2 and $15 to change them. I was like what?!?! Can I just change em real quick? He said sure and I grabbed my tools real quick and changed em on the spot! That was cool
Just wanted to share what I good experience I had with Mr. John Kim and the emissions inspection at Midas. When I first went in for inspection, 3 systems were not ready because my battery had been recently disconnected and he told me how to drive the car to get the system to read. Since I drive the car very infrequently, I had someone drive the car and take it for inspection elsewhere and they said my system could not connect and nothing could be read. I took it back to Midas and Mr. Kim said that their machine was unfortunately not working, but he took the time to get his reader and told me that all was well and it could be read at another station. When I went down the street, they informed me that the system was not connecting. Distressed, I went to DMV and got a month's extension. Today, I took my car back to Midas and Mr. Kim, and it passed in 5 minutes. I have no idea why two other places could not hook their equipment to my car so that it would read, but I am so thankful that Mr. Kim took the time to listen and encourage me. These emission inspections can be stressful and he made my life a whole lot happier today!
I have a rather exotic exhaust system in a low production performance vehicle that hasn't been produced since 2006. It was making a headache inducing metal grinding sound coming from what I thought was the muffler. I went to three different mechanics, good, reputable mechanics, and only one would even do the job of simply replacing the mufflers and modifying the pipework at a high price. I called this Midas and got in immediately. After inspection, they did determine one of my mufflers had a slight rattle, however, the brutal grinding sound was caused by a couple of pieces of broken connecting metal for the exhaust pipes and a missing exhaust mount. They welded the broken pieces back in place, added the mount, and I was out of there in less than an hour, saving hundreds replacing both mufflers with the customized set up required. I would have saved myself lots of time and grief going to these guys first. Lesson learned. This will be my place for any future exhaust repairs.
If it could give them zero stars, I would. It's too long of a story but suffice to say they said they fixed the rear emergency brakes twice yet made them worse and refused to correct it. Do yourself a favor and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
IF there is zero star, I’ll give zero. Before repair, Charge me 32 for checking, results in 1500+ for change brake pads. I declined but still charge me 32 for checking. In the end, I did same thing in other store, only cost 120.
