Too much road and air noise. Not a quiet get-away. Easy hiking trails. Paddle boarding is popular there as the water is calm.
My son likes to run around the monument there. It looks like a rainforest dream. It's wonderful.

Nice place to walk when parents are in town. Minus stars for the DCA planes constantly overhead. Billy Goat trail a better, albiet farther, bet.
Chose a cold and rainy day to check out the island but it was fun having it all to myself! Hard to do in DC! The bathrooms were closed so that might be an issue for some. Lots of parking. And the trails were all nicely cared for. Easy walk for kids! Definitely looking forward to go back in warmer weather!
