It was back in May, and my old NB 990?s needed replacing. I tried the DC store; they gave me short shrift and suggested the Arlington store for a better selection. The next week it happened that my car needed work at a nearby garage in Clarendon. So I gave the Arlington store a try. I am older heavier jogger as I typically jog home from work with a knapsack holding my work clothes, etc. and had been using the extra wide 990s (or "lifestyle shoes" as they are called now) for years. The salesperson measured my foot and suggested I try something new, NB's 880, and was patient with my skepticism and ordered it in extra wide. When the 880s arrived and I tried them on, I was still doubtful. The sales person said I could return them if they did not work out. I left my old broken down 990's and jogged the rest of the way home in the new 880s, and I have been extremely happy with these shoes and ordered an extra pair. The staff seems very knowledgeable, and it is worth working with them. I will be back.
The entire experience was perfect from walking in the door and being greeted by a most helpful consultant; he was a runner and he knew how to assess my particular needs being a former runner , now walker who needed a good diagnosis of my current stride status; an hour later after evaluation and trial of multiple shoes, I selected my best fit and my happy feet walked out the door!
Helpful but a bit pricey. Good if you are looking for advice.
The staff are always helpful and the products are always worth the money. It's small, so they are often out of sizes but you can usually get things shipped from another store.
This is subject matter expert service.
Customer service has gone way down hill at this store. When I first came here 2 years ago, I was attended by a knowledgable young woman who helped me find the right size shoe and fit my orthotics into the shoes I had selected. This time, they had to special order my size which took over a week to arrive. I had to call them to find out where my order was. When I went to pick it up, the young man acted put out that I wanted him to find my order then just handed me the box and mumbled something about trying them on and went back to chatting with his young colleagues who seemed equally oblivious and unwilling to actually serve customers. When I'm paying over $100 for a pair of shoes, I expect better service than one would get at a budget shoe shop. My friend was there earlier this year, had the same lousy experience and walked out. I also agree with the person who commented that it was hard to tell who was on staff. You need to invest in uniform shirts and customer service training.
