I brought five Austin cyclists with me to ride the trails in and around the DC area for a week, and we needed six rental bikes to suit each individual's needs – from road bikes to hybrids to e-bikes. I chose Trek Arlington Clarendon, formerly Revolution, to outfit us with our rentals because of Ben's prompt attention to every detail of our diverse group's needs, and the group discount he offered, before I could even ask. Our experience could not have been more positive.
My wife and I recently purchased a pair of bikes from the Trek location in Clarendon. We were both very impressed with the professionalism, knowledge, patience, and joy of biking displayed by all the staff members we came in contact with. The staff assessed our biking needs, didn't scoff/judge our "silly" novice-biker questions, and helped recommend a couple of his-and-her FX2's. We took them out for the first time last weekend and had a blast! I'd strongly recommend the folks at Trek Clarendon to anyone.
Upon our arrival at the shop, Ben, Mike, Alex and team got us custom-fitted to the bikes we'd selected, with changes made as needed. They were friendly, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and well-organized. We were outfitted with all the necessities trail riders require, like bike bags with spare tubes and tools, water bottle cages, toe clips, etc. – whatever each rider asked for. The shop even loaned us a floor pump to use for the week. And the shop accommodated our request to use road bikes for four days, and then switch us to hybrids for the last two days.
We all marveled at the sterling customer service and the high caliber of our rental bikes – we were provided brand-new high-end bicycles, hardly the norm in the bike rental world. A few days later, when we encountered Kevin, one of the congenial staffers, riding on the Mount Vernon Trail, he took a group photo for us. When we returned our bikes at week's end, the staff wanted to know all about our rides, and we felt as though we had made new friends.
I have really tried to like this bike store because it's so conveniently located. However, the final drop came today when one of the sales people tried to sell me a pair of winter gloves for biking. The gloves were clearly for men and way too big for a woman's small hand. They had no winter/fall gloves for women - and we're in November! I in particularly didn't appreciate being told that "maybe the gloves were unisex" like that was going to make the them fit me better.
I love this shop! I came in the first time after getting hit by a car on my old junker and wanted to purchase my first road bike. The sales manager, Alex, showed me some really great options and ultimately helped me purchase my first road bike within my grad student budget, he gave me a full education on road biking and was very patient with all of my questions and my nervousness of purchasing my first high quality bike! I had shopped around a lot and was very pleased with the service I received at the former Revolution Cycles, now Trek. I kept coming back so often wanting to know more, the GM, Mike, offered me a job! It started with just wanting to mix up my cardio, now I'm a true believer that riding bikes is the best thing for mental and physical health, it has turned into a key part of my lifestyle! I love that I get to be part of the Trek team and share my passion for the sport with others!
My husband and I recently decided that Trek Bikes is the ONLY shop we will take our bikes (or our business) in the Arlington area. We appreciate that both the sales and the repair staff are friendly, helpful, and patient with all levels of bicycle knowledge. To the staff - please continue to have this attitude! It is amazing how many times my husband and I have had staff at other shops sneer at us for using an incorrect term ("clips" instead of "cleats") or scoff at our equipment (like when I took my 6-year-old's Schwinn in for repair). We are so glad not to have to put up with that type of behavior because we have found Trek Bicycle - where the staff is open and courteous to everyone.
