Off-Airport Rental Car That Does Not Open Early. I had no issues with the rental car from Advantage, but renters ought to know a couple of things about this location. First, it is not at DCA. It is about a 10-15 minute drive away. This is a lot less convenient than the car rental companies located at the airport. Second, the lot does not open until 5:30 am. Most rental car locations open at 5am to accommodate early flights. At this location the employees do not even show up until 5:30. I could not return my car until 5:45. Definitely a non-starter for flights 6:30 am or earlier.
Didn’t have to wait long for the shuttle. The young Lady driving the shuttle bus was an absolute jewel. Our representative was very clear about all things she shared with me. Our experience thus far has been a really good one.
The shuttle pick up at the airport is very convenient. After we got to the storefront the only person on duty was told there were customers and the sales associate stayed in the backroom for about 6 or 7 minutes more. Once at the counter the sales associate slowly began to help the first person in line. The whole transaction took about fifteen minutes. Then our turn came and while the associate was checking us out, they took a phone call, I presume to ask for help because it was busy. The word 'retarded' was used to describe a co-worker the associate didn't want to work with. As we walked out the first person who was in line came back in and said his car was dirty and the engine wouldn't start. The car we got was a Hyundai Accent that was covered in scratches, and I've rented the same car at a different place for a third of the price. All in all only go here if you're desperate.
If I could give them zero, I would. The entire experience was awful. The shuttle from the airport terminal was extremely delayed; remember, this is an off-airport company. Then they gave me a Camry that I would call sketchy by car rental standards. Also, unlimited mileage is not included in the rental as it is with the larger companies, so be aware of that. Upon return, they overcharged me for the rental and mileage, and it was a nightmare to get it corrected. The workers and manager are polite, but the company is severely flawed. I will never rent from them again.
Rental agency is located off the airport, and required a separate shuttle (do not use the main shuttle). Building is in poor shape. Waited 1hr in a short line (5-6 people) to pick up car. Delay caused us to hit rush hour traffic and miss an afternoon meeting. Location is not convenient, and required a lot of (unfamiliar) city driving to get out and back. Only positive was the return crew in the morning... They were friendly and quick. Still, way too many negatives as-is.
